Take in the light..

It’s the height of summer in the hemisphere I call home. The sun is at its zenith and the days stretch long.

This is such a precious time of year and it is the time to flourish and come alive, just like the flowers and the trees around us; at their most exuberant, at their fullest expression.

2024 has brought us a lot of rain and a slow start to the summer, but as I write, the weather has turned and heat can enter our bones, the sky is blue. It is absolutely time to LIVE, however that looks or feels to you.

Can you allow that? Can you pause in your day, just briefly and connect to this time, right now? Can you imagine the liquid light pouring into your very cells, into your being? Can you feel enlivened by it, nourished and awakened by it? Even now, just for a minute, can you close your eyes and feel it pouring into you from all angles and breathe it deep into the core of you? Even better, might you be able to stand barefoot on some grass and imagine these beams, almost like a shower of light surrounding you and sinking into you? What can it do for you? What can it bring to you?

I often have more capacity at this time of year and can, and want to do more. It feels fun to go a little crazy, say yes to more, be less than sensible at times, to stay up later and see sunsets and see friends. And it’s so important that we do. Let’s allow this energy in!

But this year, I have felt very clearly that I need to remember to hold some of this light within me, like charging up an energetic battery deep within me that will allow me to keep moving forward with my life and my purpose. Our heightened energy can sometimes take us beyond our limits in summer as we say YES YES YES to life. I’d like to enjoy fully and keep some light back, like an energetic savings account, if you will. I’d like to know that some of this light is burning within me as the days start to fold in on themselves, as I seek comfort and autumn cosiness.

I’m not sure what exactly I will need this light for yet, but I’d like to know that it’s there, ready to be called upon, a summer flame, a column of golden light in my spine, a fire and an alive-ness deep within.
